Barry A. Wagner was one of the first Architects in the State of Texas to concentrate knowledge and experience in the historic preservation and adaptive re-use. 

He became a licensed architect in March 1979 and over the past 36 years has provided architectural services for projects throughout the State of Texas.  Some of the more notable projects were master plans for the courthouses in Gillespie, Bandera and Kendall counties.  Courthouse restoration work was completed on the Bandera courthouse and the recent restoration of the Kendall County Courthouse in Boerne.

Other notable projects include the restoration of the Louis Schreiner Mansion (LD Brinkman Corporate Headquarters),  Schreiner College Wier Building and Moody Science Building Expansion in Kerrville, the City Hall in Pampa, Carnegie Library restoration in Bryan and the Wynne Home restoration for the City of Huntsville.  Local projects include Marktplatz for the City of Fredericksburg, renovation of the Pioneer Memorial Library (McDermottBuilding), renovation of the Old Post Office for county offices, restoration of the Guardhouse at Ft. Martin Scott, design of the Fire Equipment Musuem and numerous local residences.  

 In 1996 he worked with a Japanese architectural firm to provide design and planning for a new auto campground constructed near Ebino City, Japan on the southern island of Kyushu.  The Japanese counterpart wanted the buildings and layout to reflect the character of a Texas campground.

 At the 2010 Annual Historic Preservation Conference of the Texas Historical Commission held in Houston,Texas, Barry Wagner was one of two architects awarded the 2009 Texas Historical Commission Award of Excellence in Historic Architecture.  This award is presented for numerous contributions to the preservation of Texas’ architectural heritage.
